The Ministry of Science, Technology and Research conducts a science, technology and research education training program to facilitate the production of solar panel prototypes. This is a five year project costing 240 million rupees.

The Shilpasena Exposition, the first in a series of expositions, being organized by the Ministry of Science Technology & Research, under the directions of Hon. Sujeewa Senasinghe, aimed at bridging the gap between Science, Technology & innovation sector and the general public is scheduled at the BMICH premises from the 18th to 21st July.

Pursuant to the International Cooperate Agreement signed between the Ministry of Science, Technology and Research and the European Organization for Nuclear Physics, the Secretary Mr. Chinthaka S Lokuhetti, visited CERN, Geneva, Switzerland on 16-17 June 2019.

The Rawana-1, a Nano-satellite held at the International Space Station, developed by two research engineers from the Arthur C. Clark Institute for Modern Technologies (ACCIMT) with the assistance of Kyushu Technical Institute, Japan was launched into an orbit at a distance of 400 km to Earth on 17.06.2019 at 3.45 pm (Sri Lankan Time), signifying Sri Lanka's entry into space research field.

 

President's Counsel Tisath Wijegunawardena has been appointed as an advisor to Minister of Science, Technology and Research Sujeewa Senasinghe.
