Fourth biennial Research Symposium organized by the Industrial Technology Institute (ITI) under the Ministry of Higher Education, Technology and Innovation was held at the R&D Complex of the Industrial Technology Institute, Malambe on 17.12.2019 and inaugurated by Hon. Minister of Higher Education, Technology and Innovation Mr. Bandula Gunawardena and Hon. State Minister of Technology and Innovation Mr. Thilanga Sumathipala. The theme of this year's conference was "Excellence in Science, Technology and Innovation for Sustainable Development". The keynote address of the conference was delivered by Professor Rangika Halwatura of the University of Moratuwa. Secretary to the State Ministry of Technology and Innovation Mr. Chinthaka Lokuhetti, Additional Secretary Mrs. Nandanie Samarawickrama, Executive Director of the Commission on Science and Technology for Sustainable Development in the South (COMSATS), Dr. Saidi Junaid, Acting Chairperson of ITI, Mrs. Sureka Hewage, Director General of ITI, Dr. Radhika Samarasekara and a large gathering of people were present at the occasion.

Minister of Technology and Innovations Mr. Thilanga Sumathipala graced the closing ceremony of the highly successful Appropriate Technology Development Project between the Sri Lanka and the Republic of Korea as the Chief Guest with the special participation of the ambassador of Korea to Sri Lanka, Mr. Lee Heuong at the Waters Edge Hotel, Battaramulla on 10.12.2019.

 

The National Quality Awards for Excellence 2017 and 2018 organized by the Sri Lanka Standards Institution (SLSI) under the Ministry of Science, Technology and Research, was held with the participation of H. E. the President Mr. Maithreepala Sirisena and Hon. Minister of Science, Technology and Research, Mr. Sujeewa Senasinghe at the Nelum Pokuna National Theater.

The Presidential Awards for Scientific Publications organized by the National Research Council (NRC) under the Ministry of Science, Technology and Research was held at the Taj Samudra Hotel, Colombo on 26.08.2019 under the patronage of His Excellency the President Mr. Maithripala Sirisena and with the participation of Hon. Minister of Science, Technology and Research, Mr. Sujeewa Senasinghe.
