இலங்கை கிழை்குப் பல்ைகலை்ைழைத்துடன் இகணை்ைப்பட்ட வகையில் சதாழினுட்ப அகடைாை்கும் கமயசமான்றிகன நிறுவுவது குறித்து விஞ்ஞான மற்றும் சதாழினுட்ப அகமெ்சும் இலங்கை கிழை்குப் பல்ைகலை்ைழைமும் ைவனம் செலுத்தியுள்ளன. இது சதாடர்பான முதற்ைட்ட ைலந்துகரயாடல் ெமீபத்தில் மட்டை்ைளப்பில் உள்ள கிழை்குப் பல்ைகலை்ைழை சதாழினுட்பவியல் பூங்ைாவில் விஞ்ஞான மற்றும் சதாழினுட்ப அகமெ்ெர் பபராசிரியர் கிரிஷாந்த அபபபெனவின் தகலகமயில் நகடசபற்றது. ஒவ்சவாரு அரெ பல்ைகலை்ைழைத்திலும் சதாழினுட்ப அகடைாை்கும் கமயத்கத நிறுவுதல் என்ற விடயத்துடன் சதாடர்புற்ற வகையில் விஞ்ஞான மற்றும் சதாழினுட்ப அகமெ்சினால் முன்சமாழியப்பட்ட திட்டத்தின் கீ ழ் இந்த முயற்சி சதாடங்ைப்பட்டுள்ளது.
அதிநவீன சதாழில்துகற உபைரணங்ைளுடன் கூடிய இந்த சதாழில்நுட்ப அகடைாை்கும் கமயம் , விஞ்ஞானிைள், ஆராய்ெ்சியாளர்ைள், பட்டதாரிைள் மற்றும் ஆராய்ெ்சி பயிலுனர்ைளுை்கு ஆராய்ெ்சி வெதிைகள வழங்ைவும்,
ைண்டுபிடிப்பாளர்ைளுை்கு அவர்ைளுகடய புதிய பயாெகனைகள, CAD/CAM உடன் வடிவகமப்பு வெதிைள் மற்றும் நவீன CNC இயந்திரங்ைளுடன் உற்பத்தி வெதிைள் பபான்றவற்றிகன பயன்படுத்தி முன்மாதிரிைளாை மாற்றவும், வணிைத் திட்டங்ைகள உருவாை்குவதற்கும், அறிவுொர் சொத்துரிகம பிரெ்சிகனைள் குறித்த ஆபலாெகனைகள வழங்குவதற்கும் ஆதரவளிை்கும் வகையில் நிறுவப்படும்.

பபான்ற முை்கிய பகுதிைள் சதாடர்பான ஆராய்ெ்சிைகள நடத்துவதில் பல்ைகலை்ைழைம் முதன்கமயாை ைவனம் செலுத்துகிறது.
இந்த சதாழினுட்ப அகடைாை்கும் கமயம் இந்த ஆண்டுை்குள் விஞ்ஞான மற்றும் சதாழினுட்ப அகமெ்சின் அனுெரகணயின்கீ ழ் நிறுவப்படும் என்று தனது ைருத்கத அகமெ்ெர் சதரிவித்தார். பமலும் பல்ைகலை்ைழைங்ைளில் நடத்தப்படும் உயர் ஆராய்ெ்சி மற்றும் புதிய ைண்டுபிடிப்பு சதாடர்பிலான பரிபொதகனைளுை்கு இந்த கமயங்ைகளப் பயன்படுத்துவது குறித்தும் மற்றும் பிராந்திய வளர்ெ்சிகய இலை்ைாைை் சைாண்ட விவொயம் சதாடர்பான வணிைங்ைளின் பமம்பாடு உட்பட சிறு மற்றும் நடுத்தர சதாழில்முகனபவாகர வலுப்படுத்துவது குறித்தும் ைவனம் செலுத்தப்பட்டுள்ளதாைவும் பமலும் குறிப்பிட்டார்.
அதன்படி, சிறு மற்றும் நடுத்தர சதாழில்முகனபவாகர உருவாை்கும் பநாை்கில் ெரியான சதாழில்நுட்ப அறிகவ வழங்குவதற்கும், ஏற்ைனபவ சதாழில்ைளில் ஈடுபட்டுள்ள சதாழில்முகனபவாகர புதிய சதாழில்நுட்ப அறிவால் சித்தப்படுத்துவதற்கும், அவர்ைகள உயர் மட்டத்திற்கு உயர்த்துவதற்கும், ஏற்றுமதி செய்வதற்கு ஏற்ற வகையில் உயர் தரமான சபாருட்ைகள உற்பத்தி செய்வதற்குத் பதகவயான சதாழில்நுட்ப ஆபலாெகனைகள வழங்குவதற்கும் இந்த கமயங்ைள் நிறுவப்பட திட்டமிடப்பட்டுள்ளன.

The Minister of Science and Technology, Professor Chrishantha Abeysena, along with the Secretary, Y.L. Mohamed Nawawi, and key officials from the Ministry, conducted an official visit today to the Industrial Technology Institute (ITI), the National Research Council (NRC), and the Planetarium.

The visit aimed to evaluate the institutions' accomplishments, explore their strategic plans for the upcoming years, and understand the challenges they are currently facing.

Discussions during the visit highlighted the vital role these institutions play in driving Sri Lanka's scientific and technological advancements. The Minister emphasized the Ministry’s commitment to addressing the obstacles identified and fostering an environment of innovation and development.

This initiative is part of the Ministry’s broader efforts to strengthen collaboration with key research and development institutions to accelerate national progress.

In a significant step toward strengthening Sri Lanka’s research and development (R&D) landscape, the Ministry of Science and Technology convened a strategic meeting recently, at the Ministry Auditorium. The session, chaired by Hon. Dr. Chrishantha Abeysena, Minister of Science and Technology, brought together representatives from medical faculties of state universities, officials from the Ministry of Health, and key institutions under the Ministry.

The objective of the meeting was to foster deeper collaboration between universities and government R&D institutions to enhance innovation in the medical sector. Discussions covered a wide range of critical topics, including increasing research funding, app development for healthcare, repairing medical equipment, streamlining foreign grant processes, and promoting evidence-based policymaking.

Institutions such as the National Research Council (NRC), Arthur C. Clarke Institute for Modern Technologies (ACCIMT), Sri Lanka Institute of Biotechnology (SLIBTEC), and Sri Lanka Inventors Commission (SLIC) presented their capacities to support biomedical innovation and invited university partnerships in areas such as patent support, equipment repair, and next-generation sequencing.

Minister Abeysena emphasized the importance of establishing structured platforms for joint research, improved access to grant opportunities, and the need for a national research program aligned with development priorities. He proposed the formation of a joint committee with stakeholders across ministries and academia to streamline foreign research grants and MOU processes.

Plans are also underway to establish a Health Technology Assessment (HTA) Unit and an internal Ethics Review Committee.

"This collaboration is not only about science—it is about securing the future health and economic well-being of our nation. Through sustained partnerships and institutional innovation, we are laying the foundation for a stronger, more connected research ecosystem," the Minister stated.

The Ministry pledged to circulate contact details of its affiliated institutions and called for proposals that address institutional bottlenecks, support student innovation, and encourage public-private partnerships in medical technology.
